Proven technology
Key design and structural elements of the new motors such as the frame, bearing assembly, terminal box and electrical design are based on proven solutions from ABB’s Process Performance Ex range
The motors are available in 4-14 poles.
They are rated up to 950kW, 50/60Hz, with voltage up to 800V(Exde) and up to 1000V (Exd).
Available mounting configurations are foot and foot/flange
ATEX and IECEx certification
Both ATEX and IECEx certificates are abailable.
The notors are certified according to the latest IEC standards
- IEC 60079-0 : 2007 Ed 5 (EPL)
- IIEC 60079-1 : 2007 Ed 6 (EPL)
- IIEC 60079-7 : 2006 Ed 4 (EPL)
- IIEC 60079-31 : 2008 Ed 1 (EPL)
The design also fulfills the relevant requirements of ATEX Directive 94/9/EC Annex Ⅱ for product category Ⅱ 2 GD with the protection modes described in the following standards

- EN 60079-1 : July 2007 (EPL)
- EN 60079-7 : January 2007 (EPL)
- EN 60079-31 : December 2009 (EPL)
Based on the same platform, ABB is planning to launch a high voltage Ex de motor in frame size 450 later in 2001.

Output powers are slightly lower compared to ExnA or SAFE AREA design due to different cooling arrangement.
